17th February 2010 – Four German student doctors staying at the Rainbow Guesthouse for a month are attending the Orange City Hospital and Research Institute as part of their studies.

Michael Bauch (left to right), Moritz Weiher, Franziska Udet and Axel Lorz are the four student doctors from Leipzig Germany who as part of their internship are visiting Nagpur to see the facilities and how the Orange City Hospital and Research Institute operates. They are living for four weeks in the Rainbow Guesthouse, each day seeing a different part of the hospital ’s facilities, some of which they have not seen in their hospitals in Germany. They have also been given the opportunity to attend a Health Camp organised by the Rotary Club of Nagpur in the urban slums. This Health Camp provides subsidised operations for the slum dwellers and including surgical procedures to repair damaged ear drums.

During their stay in Nagpur they have visited the Ecumenical Sangam’s Base Centre in Bamhani staying for three days to enable them to go out into the villages with the Sangam’s Health Team to see the work in the villages. They were shown around the Base Centres and training facilities, met the children in the kindergarten classes and young ladies in the tailoring class and spent some time talking with the Sangam’s staff.

After their time staying in the Rainbow guesthouse they plan to spend the rest of March touring in India, ending up with a few days in Goa and Kerela, before returning to Germany to complete their medical studies.
