The Ecumenical Sangam, Nagpur, is a community health and development organisation based in Nagpur, which is located right in the heart of India in the state of Maharashtra. Nagpur is also known as the “Orange City”, because of its famous oranges. In general Nagpur has a moderate climate, however during the summer it is one of the most heat affected areas of India with an average temperature of 45°C.

The aim of the Sangam is to empower the poorer sections of society through the provision of health, education, skill-building and awareness-raising activities.

Our main partners in this quest to enable the poor and downtrodden sections of society are presently our German friends from Deutsch-Indische Zusammenarbeit e. V. (Indo-German Cooperation, registered society) in Frankfurt in Central Germany with its three branch societies in Berlin, South and North Germany (Deutsch-Indische Zusammenarbeit Berlin, Baden-Württemberg e. V. and Nord), and our friends in England from Partnership-in-Action (Eastbourne, Sussex).

The Sangam has also been successfully conducting programmes with the support of the German Government, including the German Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation and the Hessian State Ministry for Economics.

In addition to the financial assistance we receive through our partners and other sources, we also run a Guesthouse and Conference Centre called the Rainbow. The surplus of income from the Rainbow is utilised to help finance the community outreach projects of the Ecumenical Sangam.
